Both have batteries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the left one the third item is XTG solar portable battery and charger. It costs $60 and it is from 2010. It says &#8220;Solar power is used to charge this USB battery,  which in turn can provide extended power for on-body devices.&#8221;  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Charger-Powered-Devices-Adventure-Windshield\/dp\/B00449U3K0\">You can see its new versions..<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ones athe cover picture are :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Datel UWR-5\/3000-DS($100 &#8211; 1995)<\/li><li>Datel UNS-5\/3-D12A($34 &#8211; 2000)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Both are DC to DC converter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My topics here are batteries.. They are evolving in time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thoughtco.com\/battery-timeline-1991340#:~:text=Timeline%20of%20Battery%20History,array%20of%20charged%20glass%20plates.&amp;text=Alessandro%20Volta's%20voltaic%20pile%20was,reliable%2C%20steady%20current%20of%20electricity.\">since 1748<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nowadays, lithium (LiCoO2) batteries are used in laptops and smartphones, while lithium (LiNiCoAlO2) batteries are used in vehicles such as the Tesla Model S. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For laptops lithium&#8217;s life cycle is about 500-1000 according to <a href=\"https:\/\/batteryuniversity.com\/learn\/article\/types_of_lithium_ion\">Battery University<\/a>. By the way I had no idea that there were a Battery University till now. I know it is very important subject for the tech people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today cars are using batteries too, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/evolution-of-battery-technology\/\">I learned Volkswagen is using Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries.<\/a> And Tesla is using  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evwest.com\/catalog\/product_info.php?products_id=463\">Lithium Ion Battery 18650 EV Module<\/a>  on its S model<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Batteries are getting better and better every day in ever aspect, like power and life cycle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla suppliers just announced yesterday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-52966178\">made a battery that can last 16 years and 1 million miles<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Will the next thing on batteries?
